Ezra Pound's "In A Station of the Metro"

1) A metro is a mode of transportation like a subway or train, and the metro Pound is describing is a very busy, crowded station.

2) The poem, to me, feels kind of dark and dreary. I get a feeling of loneliness from Pound throughout the poem as he uses words such as wet, black, and apparition.

3) I feel that the poem is trying to describe the feeling of sadness and loneliness even when you are surrounded by people in such a public place. When he uses the word "apparition" to describe the people's faces, I get an eerie feeling and that the stranger's faces mean nothing to him. He is saying that even in a crown you can feel completely alone.

4) Waiting on the orange transit:
Amidst all the noise of commotion
